Tuborg Gold Label

 Tuborg Gold Label
TUBORG
Gold Label

Well I thought I would give VB a miss for the first week,
I know you were all disappointed with that choice :+), Anyway my thoughts
on Tuborg.

First it's quite drinkable, it has a very strong taste (a lot of barley), the taste
hangs around too, I dont know weather I could drink a lot of it but I would
be willing to have a go.

It's not the best Beer I have ever had but it get's the thumbs up for a good strong taste.

Well thats about all I have to say, but I will be very interested in what the others have to say.

Ok, its been a long time coming, but here is my first review... brace yourself for the spoken word: I kind of liked "To Bog", its a robust beer that is somewhat fruity on the paelet, but if this is their Gold Label, then I would hate to taste their bronze or copper lables. The taste, while quite refreshing, fell short of blowing my mind in any way. In conclusion, I probably I won't go out and buy this beer again but I would gladly get off my guts on it....

The first beer in this crazy review club was aptly named Tuborg.  This is pronouced "To Bog", whether this actually has any relation of toilet activites to come after consuming this is yet to be discovered.  Unfortunately this beer started off on a bad foot as Paul did not provide a bottle opening service with this.  Thus this green-bottled lager sat on my desk rising slowly to room temparature before we cracked into it's inner goodness.  First impression?  "How old is this?"  I shit you not the Danish either have a shitty bottle-cap sealing process or they have not yet mastered the art of carbonation.  Well, I suppose they could just adapt the whole Solo-Man marketing angle and say you can slam it down fast.  Downing it fast is definately recommended as I would not categorise this brew as something you would like to linger over.  It kind of reminds me of the warm left overs in the bottom of a flat VB.  one good thing is that even after it sat in your lap on the drive home for 30min, it still tastes like you just opened it.

If it was free I'd drink it.  If it was expensive I'd buy something else.  Nothing special. No aftertaste which gains it an extra point.

This beer leaves a lovely after taste.  Subtle yet bitter.
A real bite that leaves the drinker wanting more.

First up this beer is Danish - which in the tradition of Carlsberg means, hoppy, strong barley flavour, plenty of alcoholic strength and a long after-taste. Tuborg has all of this. It also leaves a very clean palate, meaning that you can drink a fair few before the strength kills your taste buds. Having said that, I am not a massive fan of such strong beer, so while I would certainly not knock this one back if someone else were buying it for me, I wouldn't choose to buy it myself (unless the only alternative was a domestic beer!)
